Houston Auto Show

This weekend Josh and I went to the Houston Auto Show with my parents, as I have been doing for many, many years. We saw the BMW 1 Series, the MINI Clubman and some other interesting cars.

Josh even was gracious enough to pose for a photo, although he got sick of photos after a while.

I was definitely feeling my pregnancy, because I got tired much more quickly than I usually do. Those Quaker breakfast bars no longer cut it for breakfast!

Going to the Auto Show was different - knowing that I'm pregnant, we are looking for a car for Josh - but one that is fairly child-friendly. I'm leaning toward the Honda Civic, but only time will tell what he picks out later this year.

Sadie's Back!

Today Sadie came home! The surgery to replace her left hind leg ACL was successful, but she is not entirely back to normal. She is certainly thrilled to be home!

Wedding this Weekend

This weekend, Josh and I stayed in Corpus Christi for a friend's wedding. It was a lot of fun, and they had a great groom's cake.

Sadie's Surgery

Yesterday morning, Sadie and Perry were playing in the backyard. They were chasing each other around the big green electrical box and then suddenly Sadie was limping.

We looked at Sadie's leg and determined it wasn't a broken bone, but figured we'd take her to the vet to be sure. It turns out that she ruptured her ACL. On Wednesday, she'll go in for surgery. We won't be able to pick her up until the next Monday.

Right now she is still limping around and is much slower than ever before, but neither Josh nor I want to think about how neurotic she will be after 5 days of surgery and recovery without us or Perry.

Given the way that Perry reacted when Josh took her to the vet, next week won't be easy for him either.

I'm thankful for... the fact that Sadie's surgery is coming soon than later... and praying for a quick recovery.

Banff National Park

On Friday night, I returned from a two-night business trip to Calgary. On Thursday night, our group drove up to Banff National Park of Canada on the Rocky Mountains.

We saw elk as we drove into the park.

I finally was able to step into snow - for the first time since 1989! We then went to Banff Springs hotel for some photos and a warm glass of hot chocolate.

After that, we headed into the shop area, where we ate dinner at the Maple Leaf.

I'm thankful for... the opportunity to see sights like this on business trips.

Our New Year's Resolution

While I normally like to shy away from resolutions in the New Year, this may be an exception.

Last year, Josh and I spent the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve in San Antonio. It was there that we decided that this year we would actually work on decorating the house. It would not require a lot of furniture, but would be a lot of "finishing touches." On New Year's Eve, we finally painted our bedroom. I will now always use Ralph Lauren paint because, as I had been told, it really only takes one coat of paint. Our bedding has since been updated to match the new wall color.

This weekend, Josh finally hung up my Nigella Lawson measuring cups! This is something I'd been asking for since we moved in last February.

There are lots of little things we've been getting done, but much more to come later this year!
