Banana-Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
A great use for leftover bananas is the Cooking Light recipe for Banana-Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. Josh actually took what was left in a ziploc to work with him - not a typical practice when I make cookies!

Olive, Tomato and Cheese Sandwiches
Simplifying a wichCraft recipe, I made some Olive, Tomato and Cheese sandwiches.
I combined fresh mozzarella, slices of provolone, chopped black olives and some roasted tomatoes between slices of country bread. I wrapped each sandwich in foil, and cooked them for 15 minutes in an oven heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Josh liked it, but it was definitely a messy meal!

Hoisin Chicken with Soba Noodles, Carrots and Zucchini
Turkey, Arugula and Diced Tomato Pasta
Spicy Orange Broccolini
Balsamic Strawberries with Arugula and Goat Cheese
The other day I made a salad composed of Balsamic Strawberries with Arugula and Goat Cheese (a Mark Bittman recipe).
I liked it, but Josh - not so much! I think the color of the salad with the balsamic vinegar did not appear appetizing to him, but I liked the taste of it with the strawberries.

Berry-Peach Cobbler with Sugared Almonds
There isn't much in the food world that can top fresh produce at the height of its season.
Unless, of course, you add ice cream to that produce.
I made a Cooking Light recipe - Berry-Peach Cobbler with Sugared Almonds - and it was great!

Mojo Pork Chops with Plantains
A few weeks ago, Josh and I made Mojo Pork Chops with Plantains, which was from the current issue of Food Network Magazine.
The verdict: liked the pork, not so much the plantain seasoning.

Speed Racer Benjamin!
Ben's 11th Month
Ben continues to play with his toys!

He adores his daddy - who is definitely the "fun parent"!

He can't get on his toy transportation himself, but can stabilize himself and stay entertained.

On July 23, he started scooting backwards - after about 2 weeks of actually starting to do tummy time! He got a little frustrated that he kept on backing into furniture!

Always the character, he is good at making faces!

Ben tissue papered himself in the car heading back from Fredericksburg one afternoon!

Ben adores computers... a bit too much.

He is a maestro with a spoon!

Hanging out with daddy is the best!

A couple of Saturdays ago, Ben stayed with his Opa Peter and Oma Angie while Josh and I went to the Design Center to pick out stuff for our being-built home. He was quite the character that day!

Ben had sippy cup fun. He seems to like throwing sippy cups more than drinking with them most of the time!

Playing piano is fun!

So is swinging!

Quite the troublemaker, he loves playing with the volume knob. Recently he's been able to get to it pretty quickly - it is normally turned off!

Chocolate Banana Milkshakes
So I don't forget...
I didn't take a picture of the milkshakes that I made earlier today, and with three [obvious] ingredients, I thought I would remember. But you never know.
Josh really liked these.

Summertime
Benjamin continues to develop, and likes the dogs more and more with each month.
He laughs every time he touches them. Unfortunately for him, they run away as soon as he does! Here he is with Sadie.

Ben had a fever one day. His pediatrician thought that the bug that landed him in the hospital a couple of weeks ago came back. The next night, he surprised us by pulling himself up for the first time using a laundry basket.
We watched him instead of running for the camera, but here he is right after that!

My sister Alicia was in town for a wedding and got to see him a few days later. He was back to being the center of attention!

We continue to try solids. We know he likes some things (like the Gerber version of cheetos - are we predisposed to liking junk food?), but wasn't so wild about rotisserie chicken in tiny pieces one night.

While we were getting my watch adjusted, Ben decided that he was so hungry that he could eat his entire stroller!

... That is, until the woman working the counter starting talking to him. Then, he decided to put his "ladies' man" charm on!

He may not always be able to pull himself up to a stand on everything yet, but once he's there, he really doesn't need much support as long as we're nearby. Ben continues to love books... good thing. Not so good thing... how much he enjoys messing up the pages of books. I dread the day he reaches for my cookbooks...

Before Alicia went back to London, we were able to spend more time with her, my parents and my brother Alex.

The dogs really enjoy seeing our families. Can't you tell?

They especially love Alicia, especially when she's trying to play with Ben. Sadie and Perry think that clearly she is trying to play with them!

Ben recently mastered the fine art of raspberries...

Sometimes he really looks like a mini-Josh!

Being a baby is tough work, like when you are analyzing the swing!

Enough analysis, now it's just time to laugh!
