Josh, Ben, the dogs and I went to San Antonio for the July 4th holiday weekend. We decided to leave around 8 pm so that Ben would sleep the entire way. The plan worked, but the traffic due to construction left Josh and I frustrated, frazzled and very tired.
Luckily, we then had three days before we had to be back at work. Ben was his normal happy self the next morning. [Completely unlike his father, he is definitely a morning person!]
Ben even poses for the camera!
Ben went swimming again, which he hadn't done since April. The water was quite a bit warmer and he seemed to enjoy it a lot more. Sadie, of course, was defending her territory (the big pool step) and keeping an eye on Benjamin.
Ben was exhausted by the swimming and took a long nap. Rejuvenated, he woke up and continued being a happy baby!
His Oma Glenda saved toys from Ben's Aunts and Uncles, including a train set. Ben really liked it!
Ben now claps when he gets excited, and that happens a lot with this toy!
The next day, we went to the parade, where he saw his Aunt Hannah with her cheerleading squad and his Uncle Peter with his high school band. His Aunt Raechel's dog, Delilah, hung out with Benjamin as we waited for the parade to start.
We used a lot of sunscreen that weekend. It was sunny and really hot by the time that the parade ended. So we put more sunscreen on and headed back for a quick swim!
Ben then hung out with Daddy, grabbing everything in sight!
He even likes moving chairs - what a muscle man!
Ben loves computer keyboards, so when he woke up from a nap upset, the piano quickly changed turned that frown upside down!
That night, we all went to watch fireworks, something Josh and I had not done together for the 4th of July. The show was great, and Ben had fun too!
After the fireworks, it was pretty late so Ben was already asleep in the car heading home.
Wide awake the next day, Ben was very interested in game controllers!
Soon after, we headed back to Houston. This time, we did not encounter construction (we checked before) but a fire near the interstate caused some nasty traffic and extended our return trip by a couple of hours. Lesson learned - we have a new route to San Antonio!
